$100 to $350.00 for a Pigeon at a show I went to this weekend. Jacobin Pigeons, but other breeds are less expensive. Breeders from all over the USA were at this specialty show = Fantails, Modena (like my Simon) and Jacobins.
I ALMOST came home with a Jacobin... fell in love with several, they are so gentle and so very beautiful, but too delicate to live in my Aviary with the others.
These guys take it very serious. One fellow from S Dakota (a heart surgeon) has a Pigeon loft 40' by 80' with many hundreds of Jacobin Pigeons. I only have 3.

Keep in mind that these have been caged for 3 days so are a bit messy.
The Fantails are rather odd and I don't care for them.
The Modena (Like Simon) are very husky stocky birds with an attitude, but have very beautiful feather patterns.
The Jacobins have a beautiful arrangement of feathers that form a large Puff around the sides of the head. They don't fly too well, but can.

Fantail - Yes that's how they normally look. How do they fly?

$50,000 was first prize for one Pigeon show I went to.

$50,000 was first prize for one Pigeon show I went to. This show in Hutchinson MN, not so much. Many hundreds of Pigeon breeds, thousands of Pigeons. My Pigeons are Voorburg Shield cropper, Modena, and Homer (not in show). Modena's are known for their "Attitude"... not afraid to show you who's boss... an extreme case of overconfidence. Homers are amazing... can find their way home from a thousand miles away, at 60 mph. A good homer will all their life, ALWAYS find it's way back to the first home it ever knew.
