Pigeons Visiting Nursing Home Boutwells Pearl Khufu more

"CHICKENS, PIGEONS, and DOVES, OH MY"... at many nursing homes, Minnesota and Wisconsin ~:<)
Many hundreds of times now, with a variety of birds.(Video, click on pic).
STARRING - - Pearl Jacobin, Khufu Egyptian Swift, Simon Modena, Mr. King Show King, Shmoo Silky Chicken, Mini and Spot Dove, Quail, Nursing home residents and Staff, and my 101yo Mother (Other birds, dog and cat not in film clip).
-
- Pearl Jacobin has been held by nearly 1,000 residents, and has never flown or pooped on anyone (she can do both ~:<) . . . She will jump on anyone's arm and they can pet her.
- - It's a good feeling to see how excited the residents get when holding the birds, HUGE smiles. They LOVE the birds. Many have never held a bird.
Many more times to go ~:<)

She REALLY wanted a baby. Switched at birth ..

She REALLY wanted a baby.
Oops, Mom is not the real mom, The other mom is.
Switched at birth ...
. Two hens (white, brown) on nests hatching eggs ...
Egg rolls out onto floor ...
I placed the egg back in the nest that it fell out of (brown)..
Wrong ... As the chick grew older it became clear it belonged to Shmoo, the white hen. The father (Barney) is mostly brown so the baby is mostly brown but has feathers like Shmoo's (fuzzy), not like the other hen.
So Sorry Shmoo.

The Mother of all Mothers (True story) This is so sweet... get some Kleenex ready

This beautiful PBS video story is a must-see, for everyone, and kids will love it too.

I also have a white Silkie (Shmoo) who is the best mother in the world (All Silkies are). For months she faithfully sat on eggs (which I collected). She sat for an entire summer desperate to be a mommy. I brought home two tiny black baby Silkies and Silkie Shmoo got SOOOOOoooooo excited she scooped them up under her wings (Pic) and was the most proud mommy in the world. She thought they were hers, finally hatched.  Their tiny little black heads popping up thru her white feathers from her wing pits.

PBS VIDEO

The pic is Shmoo Silkie and her chick Shadow under her wing (now grown up). Shadow follows me around, like a shadow.

And she doesn't need batteries.

Just look at that smile...

Looks like a kids battery operated toy...?             Tuna actually likes her.

She prefers to sit on my hand...all the time. She goes everywhere with me. We go for walks, shopping, events, ... People stare (They think she's a puppet, "Is that real?").  Her name is "Shmoo" (the Al Capp cartoon) = Al Capp- Shmoo

"The Shmoo believed that the only way to happiness was to bring happiness to others."

Are you talking to ME ? ?

She's a "Silky" or "Silkie", about 2 months old, just 1.5 pounds but will not get much bigger. She has black skin (dark dark blue) and black bones, (but tastes like Chicken?) and very bright blue ear lobes.  Marco Polo wrote of this furry chicken during his travels in Asia in 13th century.
Ridiculously tame, cuddly, and lovable.
I love her gentle contented chortling.  Her sisters won first place and ribbons at the County Fair.
