Bert didn't know what to do.
Video is L:\MY DOCUMENTS\My Pictures\-C Pics 2007 thru -2009\000001Pics of Chickens ... 080730 ### 2 BigBertha Hiccups o.avi
This actually for real really is the real thing, the actual unedited sounds of ... ChickUps. I only edited out the long boring stretches of video and left in the short boring parts. Bert struts around showing off and ? crowing for help for Big Bertha?
Seems Big Bertha had the Hiccups and all Bert could do was strut around crowing. It didn't help.
About the cameraman - Ace L had to get down to Chicken level for about an hour on his hands and knees to take this unprecedented video. First time ever video of a Chicken with Hiccups.
I was going to be a smart ass and say "show the chicken an axe", but then I saw you were serious, so I decided not to be a smart ass.
ReplyDeleteThat video is pretty damn funny. You gonna send it in to Funniest Home Videos?
Debo - I've never heard a Chicken hiccup before. Poor thing. It was kind of funny. Bert was so confused by it. I gave her a box of kleenex.
ReplyDeletePoor BB! Why didn't you give her some water to drink?! (smile)
ReplyDeleteI guess Bert had no idea what that noise was... but just in case, it was a "challenge to his authority" thought he'd remind everyone that *he* was the guy to do the crowing in that yard? (ha, ha)
you definitely should send this to AFV! Poor Chicken. I love 'chickups' though. It beats out puppy hiccups...
ReplyDeleteWell..according to my friend who is a vet, Animals do get hiccups like humans, but to an animal, they are not irritating and really of no consequence to the animal. It's us humans who seem to think it either hurts them or is bothersome to them. In most circumstances, if you can get them to eat or drink something, it will help. All is good, Bert. No worries! By the way, the video is awesome!!
ReplyDeletedid they stop? and how?
ReplyDeleteAwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBig Bertha's Chickups sound so dainty and lady-like, don't they? She had the hiccups for about 1/2 hour.. then quit.
ReplyDeleteI googled "Chicken Hiccups Cure" but found nothing to cure Chicken Hiccups.
raenie - ?Maybe she drank and ate too fast in the first place? Bert was so confused by it all.
coyote - I did put it on YouTube (Chicken Hiccups)..I laughed at her while she had them, so funny.
kats - Yes, she didn't seem too concerned about it, like she barely noticed.
pandora - ? She just quit after a while. I'm wondering how/why she got them in the first place?
Swaggie - Was hoping you'd stop by. Isn't that cute? Did you know there are "Chicken Farts" too? (another blog sometime)
HOBOY!!! I can't wait. Poor little Bertha.
ReplyDeleteBert was hilarious!!
Swaggie - It's so hard to manage to get Chicken Farts on video... and it's dangerous too. Someday, maybe I'll succeed.
ReplyDeleteS'okay. I get my fill at home living with three men. It never ends!!
ReplyDeleteSwaggie - you make it sound so romantic.
ReplyDelete**SIGH**
ReplyDeleteShe got them again today... I hope this isn't a trend?
ReplyDeleteThat's odd. Isn't it?
ReplyDeleteSwaggie - The only thing I did different is since it's so hot I put some extra water in the aviary. Maybe she drank too much or too fast? Normally their water is only in the coop and also by the house.

ReplyDeleteYou have made my day! I enjoyed this something fierce. Gorgeous rooster too.
ReplyDeleteSally - Thanks... I had never heard a Chicken hiccup before...who knew? Isn't Bert a pretty bird? Well at least HE thinks he is.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds to me like she has an airway irritation. Chickens will do a kind of "reverse" sneeze like dogs do when they are trying to clear something. Poor thing. I hope it isn't the start of a respiratory illness.
ReplyDeleteBert did a good hiccup dance to rid her of them, so hopefully that did the trick.
Ark - ? Maybe she swallowed a feather? or got it up her nose?
ReplyDeleteI thought Bert was doing his usual mating dance, but maybe it was a Hiccup dance?
Poor BBertha ...and Bert is a beautiful rooster....He tried to take care of the situation ...initially he did seem to assert his more domininant crow but then he seemed to realise there was a problem ...Did I see concern? Real genuine chook concern? Loved this ...thank you!
ReplyDelete7jewel - Bert is always in control... he is the boss... always knows what to do... except for Chickens with hiccups. Bert felt helpless. He watches over the hens very carefully... no one should mess with his hens, he gets nasty.
ReplyDeleteI love a chook in control! Admirable
