Feeling hot ? - 4-1/2 feet of melting snow to green leaves in 40 seconds.

One picture per day from March 6, 2011 to April 4, 2011, from Bert's Chicken Cam (skipped days where there was no change).

  1. ha! wish winter really did go by that fast. I'm not sure if it gets AS hot there or not. Dreading Thursday when the temps are projected at 104 degrees - base temp - that doesn't include our insane humidity levels.

  2. It's been so hot and humid here it ALMOST has me wishing for snow.

  3. That was nice to see! Loved your snow-depth ruler. For someone who doesn't live with snow, the flecks (assuming they're dead leaves) in the snow came as a surprise.

  4. Just think how hot it would be if there was global warming...???.
The Chickens and Pigeons are coping well. The Chickens mostly lay around under the deck where the soil is cooler, never in the sun. Their coop is usually 4 degrees cooler than anywhere else (even in the shade) so then can always go in there to be cooler... but they don't. The Pigeons mostly stay in their nests in the aviary (Same temp as outside) but occasionally fly about a bit.

goodstuff - Literally cool project... wish we had some "cool" now, 98F today humid = 117F heat index.

blackmoon - We have it almost as hot as you, not quite but still plenty hot. On Wed we'll have over 100 real temp, heat index = ?? 120F.

rainy - Given a choice, I prefer snow and cold.

tint - Yes, leaves. In the Fall, most but not all leaves manage to fall. So during the winter the rest of the leaves fall on the snow.

  5. I finally watched that. Really neat! The transformation fascinates me every year.

  6. ienvan - If I could only speed up the REAL melting process each spring (Go directly from winter to summer).
