These little guys were Very tiny ants, less than 1/8", but they were hungry.
To illuminate the scene, I used (bad choice) a LED light bar. I guess the freeloaders didn't like the treat because they didn't come back (Terro).
very cool!
ReplyDeleteWow, never would have known!

ReplyDeleteStumped me! Have you ever sat and watched ants at work? They move mostly single file, and can carry objects more than twice their weight and size. And they never stop until the job is done...which is almost never. I like ants outside, especially the little sugar ants. I've seen ants as small as the ones you described. They're cute and industrious. People could take a lesson from them, couldn't they? The only ones I don't care for are, of course, the fire ants, but then there is a viariety of red ants that seem to live exclusively in New Mexico, at least, I've never seen them anywhere elst. I don't like those and I avoid them at all costs. I'm very allergic to them. And the only antedote is hot black coffe. I don't know why it works, but it kills the poisobn that causes the reaction I have, which is severely cramped muscles or muscles.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, Happy Birthday. I know you've probably gone out to dinner, so you will have to wait til you get home to see my message on my page!! I hope you've had a very nice birthday...Yesterday...sorry.
No... I couldn't guess what it is... i like the whole picture they are like sitting neatly round a table... :)

I have also found that my photos will be a broken link if I don't save text as a draft, only have to do a few words and then everything usually works. Also I can't get FireFox links to work in blogs. They will work on Internet Explorer.
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!

ReplyDeleteYum. Had no idea what it was in the top picture, but I've experienced the same thing many times! (I hate ants in my house!)
ReplyDeletePicture Perfect - Harriet's Macro Mystery
That was cool! Looked like part of a sea creature. Nice one.
ReplyDeleteIt sure is pretty. Is it an ant killer of some sort?
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have guessed correctly in a million years.

I would never have guessed it, either.
ReplyDeleteA bait trap? I didn't even notice the antennae in the first photo. I never would have guessed it either. Great shot!
